How to Use
Laundry
Add 6 – 8 half shells to the drawstring cotton bag provided, pull drawstring tight and include with clothes. Retain the bag, but re-use the same nuts for up to 5 washes before composting the remains – Soap Nuts become soggy and dark brown when they are ready to dispose of or compost. Mama Aum Organic Soap Nuts are:
- A natural laundry alternative for both whites and colours
- Safe for even the most delicate fabrics including wool and silk
- A natural fabric softener
- A hypoallergenic berry (not a nut) that is completely safe for use with skin allergies
- Low sudsing, making them suitable for both top and front loading machines.
- 100% eco friendly.
- Effective in cold water washes, but for best results wash at 40C.
Liquid Soap Household Cleaner
Add 10 – 12 half shells to 2 cups of water and bring to the boil. Simmer for 15 – 20 mins and strain. Liquid soap can be used for as a
- handwash – antibacterial, suitable for sensitive skin
- Shampoo – effective for treatment of scalp conditions such as dandruff and head lice
- Pet wash – effective against fleas and skin conditions
- Surface cleaner or any household cleaner that requires liquid soap.
- Jewellery cleaner – cleans tarnished metals
Dishwasher
- Add 6 – 8 half shells to the drawstring cotton bag provided and place in the bottom of cutlery holder.
- Add vinegar to the rinse aid dispenser for sparkling results.
- Compost or dispose of shells when they become soggy and dark brown.
NOTE: Soap nuts are a gentle, but effective, low sudsing alternative to detergent. You will not experience the same amount of sudsing as commercial soap based detergents and this takes some time to get used to. Remember that the amount of suds does not equate to the amount of cleansing! You will experience effective cleansing with soap nuts for all household needs.
Store soap nuts in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight
