Hello and welcome to Mama Aum. We are a family owned business with a shop front located at The Buttery, Uki in the foot hills of the beautiful Mt Warning Northern NSW Australia. I’d like to tell you a little bit about us and how Mama Aum was born.

18 years ago we had our first child Jemma. An unsettled baby she had eczema, asthma, frequent illness and difficulty sleeping. We sought help in the only place we knew at the time with the conventional medical system. It was suggested that she might have ADD and drugs were prescribed. Thankfully we declined.

But 4 years later Jemma had a stroke. Virtually unheard of in children at that time, the medical profession could offer no answers and with Jemma now suffering a migraine headache at least once a week we searched for our own. After hearing about other children with ADD being treated by the Allergy Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney we made an appointment. We will forever be grateful to the team there for what they taught us. We swapped over-processed, artificially preserved and coloured foods with fresh, whole foods and threw out all of the toxic cleaning products we used at home and replaced them with chemical free alternatives. The results were simply amazing. For the first time in her life Jemma was sleeping through the night, her migraines reduced and we could breathe a huge sigh of relief. It seems silly to us now that we didn’t know it was the food we fed her and the chemicals in her environment that were causing these problems, but back then it was a huge revelation to us.

Now of course many parents are aware of the detrimental effects harmful chemicals have on their children and our environment but we are still surprised at how many don't. We meet many people who would not dream of feeding their child a meal laden with artificial colours and preservatives but still clean with bleach or use petroleum based skin creams. Recycle and compost, but throw a disposable nappy in the bin not realising that it may take 400 years to break down or buy a T-shirt not knowing the person who made it may not be able to afford to feed their family.

Quite simply Mama Aum was founded because we want as many people as possible to have access to safer, healthier and cleaner products. I believe it is our birth right to feel really well and happy with abundant energy and by removing toxic chemicals from our environment, eating healthy, with a majority of raw fresh foods, perfect health and harmony is more than just a possibility.

We owe it to our children and we owe to the earth to choose wisely and consciously in the only way most of us have the opportunity to have our say, as a consumer.
